Midnight Season 2

Pre-season is live. Week 1 opens 19 August on EU. Everything here runs on the live tables — the same ones the planner uses to price your season — so the numbers on this page and the numbers in the tool are the same numbers.

What's happening

Season

Pre-season is live — Week 1 opens 19 August

Midnight pre-season is open now, and the season proper starts on 19 August on EU. Use the days before it to get your character imported, your talents saved and a route laid out, because Week 1 is the week the crest economy is tightest and the one most people waste. Every number on this site is already on the live tables.

New

Healer simming, which nobody else offers

Healers have never had a sim. SimulationCraft ships 29 profiles for this tier and none of them heal, which is why every healer guide gives you a stat priority and no numbers. So we built one: burst, sustained and pulsing damage across 5-man and 20-man, with real health bars, real overhealing and mana that runs out. It runs in your browser in about a second, and all seven healing specs are in it.

Updated

Stat priorities refreshed for nine specs

Our stat rankings come from the top logs. Nine specs have been re-checked against published theorycrafting and updated, and where our reading differed we simmed it and kept whichever won. Devastation moved the most — the revised order came out 15.8% ahead. Tanks and healers now rank on the right metric rather than raw damage.

New

Bonus rolls are ranked on what they are worth

A Voidcore pays one item out of a whole table and you do not get to aim it, so the roll board now shows two numbers: what the pieces you actually want are worth, and what the table is worth on average. Bosses sort by the first. Pick your brain — Pathfinder chases the biggest upgrade, Oracle takes a near-tie with better odds.

Gearing mechanics

Item levels and upgrade tracks

Where each track starts, where it caps, and the ranks two tracks share. A Hero piece finished at 321 and a Myth piece sitting at 321 are not the same item — above that point only one of them keeps going.

Gearing mechanics

Crest costs and weekly income

20 per rank, 100 a week, capped. Crests you sit on are crests you lose at the cap, and the arithmetic on when to spend is worked through here.

Gearing mechanics

Should I bonus roll?

A Voidcore is a guaranteed drop, so the only decision is which boss gets it. Knockout protection, why concentrating rolls beats spreading them, and the crest cost nobody mentions.

Raids & dungeons

Loot by slot

Every item in the season arranged by the slot it fills, with where it drops. Filter to your class, or to just the trinkets.

Raids & dungeons

Bosses, mechanics and loot

Mechanics from the Midnight PTR journal and the full drop table, boss by boss, for the raid and every dungeon in the rotation.

Simulated

DPS rankings

Simulated at 1, 2, 3 and 5 targets. The order changes at every count — a spec near the bottom on one boss can lead the list on four.

Simulated

Trinket rankings

Ranked by measured damage on each spec’s own profile rather than by stat weights, and broken down per item level so a lower drop can be judged against a higher one.
