Dazar, The First King
Kings' Rest · boss 4 of 4
Dazar. The founder and first King of Zandalar, who led an exodus of his people out of the muck and mire and built a city of gold. The first tamer of raptors. The warrior undefeated. The father of a kingdom. His eternal repose cut short by Zul's dark magic, it lies to you to once again put him to rest.
Pure execution: dodge the spears from the ceiling, the fire off his swings, and the two things that leap on you, and once he mounts, damage bleeds between him and T'zala.
An avoidance fight. Stay out of Impaling Spears and the Searing Gold his swings throw after Gilded Destruction, turn Reban's leaps away from the group, and survive the scheduled raid damage. At a health threshold he mounts T'zala, and Eternal Bond then shares a portion of all damage taken between the two.

What actually kills you
Everything else is noise until these three are handled.
- Standing under Impaling Spear. It launches from the ceiling, hits everyone in the impact area hard, and leaves a bleed.
- Melee range after Gilded Destruction. It wraps him in Searing Gold, so his ordinary swings throw a wave of fire in front of him.
- T'zala's Savage Maul. The bleed it leaves also raises the target's Physical damage taken, and almost everything here is Physical.
Your job
If you tank
- Blade Combo escalates through the cast, the last strike far bigger than the first. Cool down for the end of it, not the start.
- Once he mounts, Savage Maul leaves a bleed and a Physical-damage-taken increase on its target; that vulnerability is what makes the next big hit lethal.
If you heal
- Gilded Destruction is scheduled group-wide Fire with a burn tail. Heal it as a known beat.
- Deathly Roar fears the whole group. Expect people to scatter and need topping up when it ends.
If you DPS
- Aerial Smash and Quaking Leap both damage everyone at the landing point. Watch where they are going, not where they are.
- Reban's Hunting Leap lands on a player and follows with cone attacks; whoever it jumped to turns it away from the group.
- After he mounts, Eternal Bond shares damage between Dazar and T'zala, so cleave both rather than tunnelling one.
How the fight goes
| Part | What to do |
|---|---|
| Step 1 | On foot: Blade Combo, Gilded Destruction (which then coats his swings in Searing Gold), and Impaling Spears from the ceiling. Reban leaps on players and fears the group with Deathly Roar. |
| Step 2 | At the health threshold he mounts T'zala. Savage Maul and Quaking Leap take over, and Eternal Bond shares a portion of damage taken between the two. |
Higher keys
Heroic and Mythic
The journal marks only that Kings' Rest is Heroic and Mythic only (not available in Normal); it publishes no key-level-specific text. Higher keys scale health and damage. We would rather say that than invent a difference.

Worth a bonus roll?
You cannot roll this boss on its own. A dungeon roll is against the whole instance, so this table is one part of a pool that includes every other boss in Kings' Rest — the bonus roll guide explains what that changes, and the planner works it out per spec.
