Melidrussa Chillworn
Ruby Life Pools · boss 1 of 3
Melidrussa Chillworn leads the Primalist infusion efforts in the Ruby Life Pools. Her fervent belief is that she is protecting young dragon eggs from the influence of the titans and cleansing them from the stain of Order magic. She will stop at nothing to fulfill her calling and return the eggs to what she believes is their natural state.
A burst check bolted to an add fight: break the Ice Bulwark fast, because the Frost Overload behind it escalates the longer the shield lives.
Hold through Hailburst and Chillstorm as baseline group damage. When Frost Overload puts up the Ice Bulwark, dump everything into it. When Awaken Whelps summons Infused Whelps, pick them up and kill them before Cold Claws stacks into a stun.
The spells that matter
The handful you actually react to. Hover for Blizzard's own text; click through for the full tooltip.
What actually kills you
Everything else is noise until these three are handled.
- A slow Ice Bulwark. Frost Overload's own damage increases every pulse while the absorb holds, so a long shield phase gets unhealable.
- Standing in the Storm's Eye. Chillstorm pulls you toward the middle, and the middle is where Frost damage taken is increased. Fight the pull outward.
- Whelps left on one person. Cold Claws stacks to Frozen Solid, a stun, and being stunned into a Hailburst is how people die.
Your job
If you tank
- Grab the Infused Whelps on Awaken Whelps. Cold Claws stacks on whoever they hit, and you eat the Frozen Solid stun far better than the healer.
- Chillstorm pulls the whole group. Position for where you will be dragged to, not where you stand now.
- Frigid Shard is a physical hit on you between the group mechanics.
If you heal
- Chillstorm and Hailburst are both group-wide and predictable. Save cooldowns for the Frost Overload window, where damage ramps.
- Frozen Solid is a stun, not a dispellable debuff. Prevent it by getting whelps dead, not by reacting to it.
If you DPS
- Everything onto the Ice Bulwark the instant it appears. Nothing else you do is worth as much.
- Hailbombs detonate on contact, knock you upward, and slow your haste. Do not walk into one.
- The Storm's Eye is a penalty, not a shelter. Move out against the pull.
How the fight goes
| Part | What to do |
|---|---|
| Step 1 | Hailburst and Chillstorm alternate as the baseline group damage. |
| Step 2 | At two health thresholds, Awaken Whelps floods the party with Infused Whelps stacking Cold Claws. |
| Step 3 | Frost Overload encases her in Ice Bulwark; each pulse hits harder until the shield breaks. |

Worth a bonus roll?
You cannot roll this boss on its own. A dungeon roll is against the whole instance, so this table is one part of a pool that includes every other boss in Ruby Life Pools — the bonus roll guide explains what that changes, and the planner works it out per spec.
