Mchimba the Embalmer
Kings' Rest · boss 2 of 4
There was once a caste of Zandalari whose purpose was to preserve and defend the remains of past rulers. But when a terrible plague of corrupted blood tore through the empire, it was too risky for mortals to handle the dead. Golems were summoned for the grim work of preservation and burial; they have been used ever since.
Someone gets sealed in a crypt and every wrong crypt opened releases a mummy. Listen for the struggling, that is them telling you which door.
A timed search. Entomb hides a player in one of the crypts and Mchimba opens the others one at a time, empty ones first, each opening faster than the last; every unoccupied crypt releases a Finished Mummy. Free the trapped player and the ritual ends on the spot.

What actually kills you
Everything else is noise until these three are handled.
- Searching slowly. Open Coffin accelerates with each crypt, so the mummies arrive in a rush, not a trickle.
- Ignoring Desiccation. Drain Fluids ends in a debuff that cuts damage and movement speed and lasts until that player is healed above 90%; it does not time out.
- Standing in Burning Ground. Burn Corruption drops fire under a player and it lingers.
Your job
If you tank
- Every released mummy is another pickup while the group is scattered searching. Position where you can reach the whole chamber.
- Command Constructs is group damage plus Interment Constructs moving in to embalm; collect those too.
If you heal
- Desiccation is a hard-number heal: above 90% health, or that player stays crippled the rest of the fight.
- Explosive Acids fires during Drain Fluids and hits everyone near the target; the drained player should not be in the group.
If you DPS
- The trapped player can Struggle, which alerts you to their crypt. Someone has to be listening, not tunnelling.
- Free them and the ritual stops immediately; every second saved is one fewer mummy.
- Awakening Slam opens crypts on its own and releases Half-Finished Mummies, whose Wretched Discharge is a disease on everyone.
How the fight goes
| Part | What to do |
|---|---|
| Step 1 | He drains and burns while Interment Constructs work the room. |
| Step 2 | Entomb seals a player; Mchimba opens crypts, empty ones first, each faster than the last. |
| Step 3 | Find and free the trapped player to end the ritual, or fight everything the other crypts released. |
Higher keys
Heroic and Mythic
The journal marks only that Kings' Rest is Heroic and Mythic only (not available in Normal); it publishes no key-level-specific text. Higher keys scale health and damage. We would rather say that than invent a difference.

Nothing matches that.

Worth a bonus roll?
You cannot roll this boss on its own. A dungeon roll is against the whole instance, so this table is one part of a pool that includes every other boss in Kings' Rest — the bonus roll guide explains what that changes, and the planner works it out per spec.
