Charonus
Voidscar Arena · boss 3 of 3
The overly confident and ostentatious owner of the Voidscar Arena, Charonus, is impressed by the fighting ability of Azerothians and demands them for his grand collection.
Your orb can't be killed — it can only be driven into a singularity, and that singularity is also trying to swallow you, so skim the edge.
A kiting puzzle with the hazard as the weapon. Every player gets a Gravitic Orb that seeks them and stacks Condensed Mass — Shadow damage and a compounding slow. Nothing you cast removes it; the only counter is leading it within six yards of one of Charonus's own Unstable Singularities, which tears it apart.

What actually kills you
Everything else is noise until these three are handled.
- Trying to outrun the orb. Condensed Mass slows you as it stacks, so the longer you kite, the less able you are to kite.
- Going too deep. Players pulled into an Unstable Singularity are Atomized — unable to attack or use abilities — while orbs keep ticking on everyone else.
- Being knocked in. Void Cascade knocks players away on contact, and a knockback near a singularity is far worse than one anywhere else.
Your job
If you tank
- The singularities pull constantly — hold him somewhere with room on both sides so the group has a route out after each orb is destroyed.
- Dark Waves are dodged, not absorbed — damage on hit, not a tank mechanic.
If you heal
- Condensed Mass stacks on all five at once and only stops when each orb is gone — the check is how long the slowest player takes to reach a singularity.
- Anyone Atomized is out of the fight for its duration; expect their orb to keep ticking uncontested.
If you DPS
- Do not fight the orb — walk it to a singularity and let the hazard destroy it.
- Approach the edge, not the middle: six yards is enough to tear the orb apart and not enough to pull you in.
- Go early — the first stacks are cheap and the slow makes every later trip longer.
How the fight goes
| Part | What to do |
|---|---|
| Step 1 | Charonus opens Unstable Singularities near himself — they tick Shadow damage and pull everyone slowly inward. |
| Step 2 | Gravitic Orbs spawn, one per player, and begin stacking Condensed Mass. |
| Step 3 | Each player leads their orb within six yards of a singularity to destroy it, then gets clear before the pull finishes the job. |
Higher keys
Heroic and Mythic
The journal publishes no key-level-specific text; higher keys scale health and damage. We would rather say that than invent a difference.
Loot
Everything Charonus can drop, from the Midnight Season 2 item database.
| Slot | Item |
|---|---|
| Head | Overseer's Diadem |
| Neck | Graft of the Domanaar |
| Chest | Manipulator's Vest |
| Waist | Gravitic Girdle |
| Trinket | Mindpiercer's Sigil |
| One-hand | Singularity Slicer |
| Two-hand | Charonic Crescent |
Nothing matches that.
This boss drops a trinket. Trinket value varies enormously by spec — see the simulated trinket rankings.
Worth a bonus roll?
You cannot roll this boss on its own. A dungeon roll is against the whole instance, so this table is one part of a pool that includes every other boss in Voidscar Arena — the bonus roll guide explains what that changes, and the planner works it out per spec.
